A Journey Through Texas

A Journey Through Texas is written by Cabeza de Vara. It is from his point of view we read this story. Cabeza de Vara does on a journey through many different Indian tribes. Cabeza is on the journey to find new lands for the king and queen of Spain. He goes through many struggles to find what he is search for.The purpose of the journey is to inform the reader and also for money. Though our his exploration he also receives knowledge from the different Indian tribes.
There are many tones to the story, but I believe that the three important ones are informative, descriptive and anger. The story is very informative because for one, the purpose of the story is to inform. He informs us about the different tribes and how they live and differ from one another.Informing us about the lifestyle of the Indians we can more clearly understand the situation Cabeza is in. The story is also very descriptive showing us the situations Cabeza is in and the different obstacles he has to over come to get what he wants. This also helps us understand the story more because we have a very vivid image of what the author is talking about. Anger plays a great tone in the story, Cabeza used anger to scare the Indians. He used this method to show the Indians he is in charge and is capable of doing what he likes. We can also connect this to real life because the superior man has control over the one who is fearful.
