letter From Birmingham CIty Jail
This letter was written by Martin Luther King Jr. He wrote this letter on April 16, 1963. Martin Luther Kind was in Birmingham jail during this time. He wrote his letter on the margins of the newspaper. Like his other speeches MLK's subject for this letter is about civil rights and freedom. MLK's tone in the letter was calm, emotional and very encouraging. This speech is encouraging to many other black people during this time because MLK is writing from jail. This shows his determination to getting rights and freedom. MLK's purpose of this letter is to inform the people about how the blacks are being treated. MLK brings very emotional examples during his informative speech to make the readers really feel what the Negros have felt. He also tries to persuade the reader that the blacks were not being treated fairly. He tries to capture the readers moral side by making them think what is the moral thing to do. Using emotional and moral values in his speech MLK letter later becomes known world wide. Police Brutality, Social Injustice,Nonviolence, Segregation are all part of this speech as well.
