It's All About the Benjamin's Baby!

Like my fellow classmate Gareen said, "surprisingly  this week we only read one story". I believe the reason why we only read one story was because we were to busy watching Mrs. Kirkman entertain us with the smart board. We read about Benjamin Franklin's autobiography. The speaker is Benjamin Franklin. Benjamin Franklin is informing us about his life's goal when he was seventeen. Moral perfection is the purpose. Benjamin Franklin listed thirteen of the rules he followed. He would not move on to the second rule until he had perfected the first one. Then he would try to perfect both of them at once. He did this until he perfected all of them. The tone of the story is very informative and practical.I think Benjamin tired to show the importance of moral perfection in his autobiography. Benjamin wrote this when he was seventeen, which is why we can understand this more carefully and vividly because we are seventeen. All of Benjamin's points related to one another in some form. I believe what Benjamin Franklin did at this age was very hard.I would like to see another seventeen year old boy follow all of these rules and see how far they will end up on the chart.

Lake WHAT?! LAKE TA HO!!!

Do you love Jet Skiing? Hiking? Snorkeling? Being surrounded by beautiful and friendly people? How about deep sea fishing? If not, your not human. I have been living for seventeen years and I have been to a lot of places. But, nothing compares to the fresh air filling up your lungs in Lake Ta Ho. I have been going to Lake Ta Ho every summer for fun and as a tradition, and I must say it great! Lake Ta Ho is great for all you nature lovers. The beach water is so clean you do not have to shower for three weeks if you just take a dip in that water. Just kidding! Benjamin Franklin's rule number nine. Cleanliness, so shower! Lake Ta Ho is like heaven on earth,  the smell of pine trees, friendly people around you, and so much fun activities to do. Would you rather stay home and be a couch vegetable or  go to Lake Ta Ho and have some fun with friends and family. I mean just saying the name L-A-K-E T-A-H-O, the way it rolls off your tongue makes you want to go there. What are you waiting for, stop wasting your time reading this. Go to Lake Ta Ho!

I Scream You Scream We All Scream For Ice Cream

The most popular and best ice cream flavor is vanilla. Not only does it taste great, it is not as bad as the other flavors. Vanilla ice cream actually has good nutritional values. Not only is it good tasting but most people like it because you can mix any other flavor with it. Vanilla ice cream is very low on calorie count. One half cup of of sugar free vanilla only contains 101 calories. When eating vanilla ice cream you also gain on vitamins. Half a cup of vanilla ice cream contains 6 percent Vitamin A, 9 percent calcium, and 1 percent vitamin C. Most people argue that vanilla ice cream has too much fat. They do not realize that the 7 gram of fat vanilla ice cream contains is less then the 14 to 16 grams of fat other ice cream contains. You also gain protein when you eat vanilla ice cream, it contains 3 percent protein. The world would not have been the same without vanilla ice cream. It is what gives life to the children of America, and that is why I eat it to.

Death or Liberty

The speech I am writing about is the Speech in the Virginia Convention this speech was by Patrick Henry and it was to the members of the convention. The purpose of this speech was for freedom, it took place in 1775-76 in the Virginia Convention  Center. The tone Patrick was speaking in was very patriotic and encouraging, this is a very persuading speech because Patrick Henry uses very powerful points to make his statement. He uses Mythological themes such as the siren who he compares to the king. He also connect the king to biblical illusions with Judas betrayal  kiss. He also uses rhetorical questions to get the members to think. At the end of the speech Henry is very powerful, talking about the consequences and the choice they have. This speech is one of the most popular speeches in literature because it uses most of the aspects

SAT Scores

The article that I am writing about is SAT Scores for Class of 2011Decline in Every Aspect. I found it from La  Times  and the writer is Carla Rivera. Students of 2011 graduating class has dropped scores on the SAT nationally on all aspects. Most officials questions whether or not these students are ready for collage. The combined SAT scores were dropped three points in reading, one point in math and two points in writing. The combined average SAT score of 1500 was six points below last year and 18 points off the 2006 mark. A perfect score on the three-section test is 2400. More students then ever are taking the exam and scoring very low on them. 1.6 million nationally are taking the test which 53 % of them represent the students of California high schools.

Mission Update

Mission update is a blog written by Steve Squyres. He is speaking to us from space, telling us about the successful landing of the crater Opportunity. His tone in the blog is very excited because he is so happy about the successful landing on Mars. This blog took place in 2006, I believe that this blog is very effective because he is addressing this to the whole world. Anyone who read the blog would be extremely excited just like Steve Squyer was. I'm sure what he experienced everyone would like to experience, this blog has a great impact on science and on life. The crater hundreds of pictures and can inform us about life on mars.

O.C man accused of molesting a 4 year old girl.

This news article was posted by La Now. "O.C. man accused of molesting 4-year-old to be arraigned Friday" I found this article at Los Angeles Times. 45 year old Gordon Ray Bobkin has been charged with molesting one too many times. He has been charged with one felony count each of unlawful sexual intercourse with a 10 year old child, sexual penetration with a foreign object of a child under 10,and oral copulation with a child under ten. Bobkin is facing maximum 40 years to life in prison. He is being held lieu of $1 million bail.

Bobkin was reported babysitting August 9 when one of the child's parent came home early one day seeing Bobkin wearing nothing but a shirt. These kind of people and sexual harassment needs to be stopped. It is affecting the future of America. These poor innocent children are going to grow up scarred. After going through such harsh childhood it is possible that these children wont be able to have a great future with what their childhood has left on them.

A Journey Through Texas

A Journey Through Texas is written by Cabeza de Vara. It is from his point of view we read this story. Cabeza de Vara does on a journey through many different Indian tribes. Cabeza is on the journey to find new lands for the king and queen of Spain. He goes through many struggles to find what he is search for.The purpose of the journey is to inform the reader and also for money. Though our his exploration he also receives knowledge from the different Indian tribes.
There are many tones to the story, but I believe that the three important ones are informative, descriptive and anger. The story is very informative because for one, the purpose of the story is to inform. He informs us about the different tribes and how they live and differ from one another.Informing us about the lifestyle of the Indians we can more clearly understand the situation Cabeza is in. The story is also very descriptive showing us the situations Cabeza is in and the different obstacles he has to over come to get what he wants. This also helps us understand the story more because we have a very vivid image of what the author is talking about. Anger plays a great tone in the story, Cabeza used anger to scare the Indians. He used this method to show the Indians he is in charge and is capable of doing what he likes. We can also connect this to real life because the superior man has control over the one who is fearful.

My Favorite Book

I never really liked reading books, actually to be honest I rather stick pins in my eyes then  read a book sometimes. If i had to pick one of the few books I enjoyed reading that doesn't include my mothers fake stories she would create to get me to fall asleep it would have to be The Kite Runner that i read last year with Ms. Patil. It took her a while to make me believe that this book is really good. The second I finished with my first page I couldn't wait to flip the page and get started on the new one.  I really liked this book because it was the first book I sat down and read for hours.I never knew what was going to happen next which was why I never wanted to put it down. It always kept me clueless and anxious to find out what happens next. Another reason why I liked it was because it was the authors memory about his childhood and how he betrayed his best friend. The story made me wanna kill the author for doing what he did to such a loyal best friend few people get to have, but on the other hand it can teach someone to treat the people who love you with the same respect and love. I will probably never enjoy another book as much as i enjoyed this one so i think the author should win some kind of prize.
