Edgar Allen Poe is famous for his dark, mysterious and scary story's. One of his famous story is the fall of the house of Ushers.This story is about the narrator receiving a letter form his old friend, asking him to come live with him. he asks him because he is about to die and he wants someone company as he lives his last days. There is one thing that is scary and strange about this family. The family members marry each other from their family. The man who send the letter is Roderick Usher. He also has a sister. When the narrator arrives at the house he notices that the house is very scary and old. He says the windows look like eyes, symbolizing the house sees everything. The interior of the house is also very familiar to the exterior. When the narrator sees his friend he notices that he look very sick and scary. He also looks like the way his house is. Old, sick and decaying. This all builds suspense that fits in with Gothic literature.
Towards the end of the story Roderick's sister dies randomly with no known cause. They burry the sister in the house. As Roderick is getting more sick and dieing, he starts reading him a story, but he also feels a presence in the house. Something like a supernatural being. The body of the sister is buried right underneath them on the same lining. They have buried the sister alive which is the most intense part of the story. The novel the narrator reads to Roderick is about a person being buried alive and having to dig his way up to. Roderick's sister come out of her burial and the Usher siblings die because the house falls down, luckily the narrator escapes before the house killed him to. This story fits perfectly in Gothic literature because it very dark and mysterious.
